Jina Carvalho holds a BA in Psychology and the performing Arts and is Director of Communication for the Glendon Association and PsychAlive.org. Their mission is to save lives and enhance mental health by addressing the public health issues of suicide and violence and disturbed family relations. Ms. Carvalho was a founder of the Santa Barbara Response Network (SBRN), a grassroots volunteer organization dedicated to offering Psychological First Aid (PFA) and support for resilient recovery from traumatic incidents including disasters, suicide and violent injuries, especially among underserved populations and youth. For over ten years, Jina has personally responded to hundreds of traumatic incidents, also trained thousands of community volunteers. She coordinated trauma support efforts to dozens of traumatic incidents in the Santa Barbara community including the Isla Vista mass shootings, the wildfires, the Montecito debris flow, Conception boat fire, Han family murders and violent incidents and suicides in schools and throughout the community. In recognition of her service, she was awarded the “Santa Barbara Independent, Hero of the Year Award” for her trauma response work in the Santa Barbara community.
As a skilled creativity coach and motivational speaker, Jina guides individuals through creative blocks and professional challenges while building supportive community. Jina’s unique approach combines healing methodologies with practical communication strategies, empowering individuals and organizations to break through limitations, rediscover happiness, and create meaningful change.

Jina is a performance artist, author and poet. Her publications include a poetry memoir entitled “The Weight of Desire” and her writing has most recently appeared in the poetry anthology “Women in a Golden State”.
